THE ORIGIN OF THE NAME "FRANCESCO"

The name "Francesco" comes from the medieval Latin "Franciscus" which means "Frank" or "belonging to the people of  Franks". Another hypothesis attributes to Francesco (as Franco) the meaning of "free" and, by extension, "free man". It is because the Franks, during the Middle Age, were the only people who could enjoy the right of free citizens. The most famous person to bear the name "Francesco" was St. Francesco D'Assisi, who gave up all his possessions to live in poverty. He became saint patron of Italy with St. Caterina Di Siena. Another important saint with the name "Francesco" is St. Francesco di Sales, saint patron of writers and journalists. A lot of important historical figures beard this name, like the actual Pope Francesco. The name-day is on October the 4th, in honor of St. Francesco D'Assisi.

MY SCHOOL

The name of my school is "Liceo Scientifico Statale G. Galilei". It is situated in front of the Ducal Palace, an important building of my city. It has three floors (like my old school). On the first floor there is the entrance and a desk with a photocopier. On the second floor there is the secretary, and on the third floor there are two labs: an I.T. lab and a language lab. Behind it, there are also another two buildings: in the first building, there is a big auditorium with a stage, for the students of musical Lyceum. In fact, in my school there are more address of study which are: linguistic, traditional  scientific, applied sciences, human sciences and musical. In the second building there is a gym, but I've never been in it yet. Outside the auditorium, there is a volleyball camp, where we do physical education. The school has got another one new building in another part of the city, in "via dei Duchi di Carafa", where there is another secretary and other classrooms.
My classroom is on the second floor. There are 18 students in it, and they're very friendly. My best friend sits next to me. Her name is Arianna, she's 14 and she lives in Mondragone, like me. We're friends by three years. She's got a sister called Martina, she's very good and she can draw very well. By the way, I get along well also with Silvana, Lina, Michela and Carmela, which are very funny.
The teachers are OK. My old teachers of the middle school always told us that the Lyceum teachers were very bad, but I don't think so! They are really cool and I like them so much.

THE ORIGIN OF MY NAME

My name is Roberta. It has got Germanic origins, and it comes by the word "Hrodebert". This word is composed by the words "hrod" which means "fame" or "glory", and "beraht" (or "berht") which means "illustrious". So the name "Roberta" can be interpreted as "shining glory" or "illustrious for fame". My name-day is on September the 17th, in honor of Saint Roberto Bellarmino, a Jesuit, Cardinal and Doctor of the Church, Bishop of Capua and patron of masters, teachers and catechists. My dad has chosen this name because my father's name's Roberto, and he wanted so much a daughter, so he called me like him, Roberta.

HOW TO USE SPELL CHECK

If you've got a blog and you have to write an article, you have to be sure that it's not full of spelling and grammar errors ... how? Using Spell Check, of course! But what's Spell Check? It is a grammar and spelling checker that you can find on the Internet. First, I write my post, then I copy it on Spell Check box and I control if there are errors or not, so my text will be in perfect English. I think it's a very useful tool, especially for students or people that want to learn how to write correctly.
